These are the current outreaches that we are a part of.
Operation Winter Needs is a drive to provide essential survival needs for our unhoused friends on the streets of Nashville in this Winter Season. With the temperatures dropping below freezing at night. This drive is vital to providing life saving provisions for our unhoused friends. Every year we lose friends who have succumbed to the cold and have frozen to death. This statistic breaks our hearts and this winter we are making it our mission to provide as many Sleeping Bags, Tents, Coats, Gloves and Hats as possible.
Two years ago, when the temperature was only 19 degrees, we lost one of the sweetest souls I have ever met, Jake, or as I always called him Jake from State Farm because he would always wear Khaki Pants and a red shirt. Jake came through our line that Tuesday night and had a great meal with us, and we tried to get him to go to the Shelter that night but due to Jake being assaulted at a shelter and all the trauma attached to it. He refused to go into the shelter, and this is a story that is far too common. Jake refused to take our last sleeping bag that night and had us give it to a young lady. He said, “Man she needs it more than me ill be ok” Well that next morning Jake was found, and he had succumbed to the Cold weather, and he was found dead in a Porta-Potty.
With your help we will be able to provide our wonderful friends with these vital survival needs.
